Summary: A summer's idyll in Sussex. Holmes and Watson seek some peace and quiet. But that's not as simple as they imagine.

======

Steamy, affectionate, swelteringly hot, and shocking. A gorgeous tale of both self-mastery and release, with a brutal, cold-blooded murder to be solved. I especially liked how Holmes suffers because he cannot accept himself, and how Watson guides him toward a “cure”. Atmospheric and lush, with a thrumming undercurrent of desire and emotion throughout.

I am so excited! I am going to the Sherlock Holmes Jubilee celebrating 125 years since Sherlock Holmes supposedly fell to his death at the Reichenbach Falls above Meiringen. I managed to get a room at the Parkhotel du Sauvage, which is the hotel where Arthur Conan Doyle stayed in 1893 just before writing the story, and which also served as the model for the fictitious 'Englischer Hof' from The Final Problem, the story in which Holmes and Moriarty have their final confrontation. One of my friends from the Zurich area is going with me and I'm also going to meet some fans from Berne. Is anyone else going?

This fic is quite different than the other ones I've translated by this author. It's an ACD fic, for one, and it's quite short, basically just a couple of scenes with quite a lot of ruminating and remembering on Holmes' part. And it is super sad. Check the warnings. But it is also a quite beautiful (if tragic) depiction of Holmes and Watson's undeniable connection.

Summary: "I'm easy to find," said the young woman. "Hell, London, gets me every time."
The real story behind "The Adventure of the Illustrious Client".
Warnings: Mention of non-consensual BDSM (not involving Holmes or Watson)
Notes: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] cleflink as part of the Winter 2015 [livejournal.com profile] holmestice gift exchange. Based on The Adventure of the Illustrious Client, which is my new favorite ACD story. This is omegaverse, but a kinder, gentler omegaverse in which there are no heats or mating frenzies. My deep gratitude to [livejournal.com profile] lorelei_lee1968 for help with Victorian BDSM practices. She is a font of esoteric knowledge. And a huge thank you to [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit for help with all things Victorian, British, and grammatical. Both of them signed up for something of a much smaller scope but gamely agreed to keep going as this expanded beyond all reason.

Notes: This was written for [livejournal.com profile] saki101 for the Summer 2015 [livejournal.com profile] holmestice exchange. The request was for something with a little bit of music or magic. Some liberties have been taken with the canon timeline. Spoilers for “A Study in Scarlet”, “The Sign of the Four”, "The Empty House" and “The Noble Bachelor”.
